*Here follows a biography in English:

Disharmonikerna (The Disharmonics/The Disharmonists) is an alternative rock band from Trollhättan, Sweden, that formed in 1991 and disbanded in 1996. In 2019, the band made an unexpected comeback, which spawned quite some media attention in Western Sweden, after having received a request to participate in a music documentary. Disharmonikerna plays a melodious, synth-influenced (albeit guitar-based) alternative rock with poetically intelligent lyrics in Swedish, a style of music that a reviewer from Musikermagasinet (Musicians’ Magazine) dubbed as “poetic drum machine-driven indie guitar folk pop”. The guitars have sometimes been used as if they were a keyboard, which together with a drum machine, monotonous bass lines and folk music references have helped propelling the band’s original sound. Disharmonikerna were predicted a brilliant future by several music critics in the 1990s but did not achieve any broader impact. In 2019, however, Disharmonikerna won the Swedish music competition “Parallell Mello” (an alternative version of the annual national song contest), with their contribution “Återkomsten” (The Return). The competition was organized by the record company Lingonberry Records and the 2019 edition contained 60 Swedish artists who competed for a total of 1,000 EUR in prize money. The band's comeback single, "Återkomsten", was followed by a new studio album in late 2021 (with a release on vinyl in October 2022), Ensamma bland människor (Alone Among People), the first from Disharmonikerna in more than 25 years. Today’s band consists of the three original members Urban Hane (vocals), Kristian Petrov (guitars) and Ken Höög (bass).

The band's music has influences from different genres such as postpunk, New Wave, Goth, New Romantic, Krautrock and folk music.

Since Disharmonikerna is a Swedish band – pursuing a musical art form with exclusive lyrics in Swedish – they are obviously more of a Swedish (or Scandinavian) media phenomenon than an international one. However, now and then (in fact dating back to 1992), international journalists and reviewers are ocassionally talking about Disharmonikerna as well.
